The Plot Thickens! Making stories out of stories

Our focus will be on the most fascinating of the stories about King Arthur's knights, 'Sir Gawain and the Green Knight'. We will show how learners can explore what the story leaves unsaid and mysterious, and suggest how they can engage creatively with the story by imagining different kinds of prequels ('backstories' and 'origin stories') and sequels ('continuations' and 'spin-offs').

A graduate in English Literature from the University of Oxford, Robert taught in Spain, Greece and England before teaching at the universities of Verona and Milan in Italy. He has given talks at TESOL, IATEFL and British Council conferences in many parts of the world. He is now a teacher-trainer and writer, and Coordinator of IATEFL's Literature Special Interest Group.
